Welcome back to #MUSICED! #MUSICED is a weekly series that will help YOU stay educated about the complexities of the music industry, giving you everything you need to know about monetizing your masters. On this week’s #MUSICED, we discuss SoundExchange!

SoundExchange, the CMO designated by the U.S. government to administer the Section 114 sound recording license, collects and distributes digital performance royalties on behalf of master rights owners/holders and performers. SoundExchange passes 5% of all royalties received to the AFM & SAG-AFTRA Intellectual Property Rights Distribution Fund to administer on behalf of background musicians and vocalists (aka non-featured performers).

Stay tuned for more information to help YOU learn more about how to make money from YOUR music!
